Do you struggle with foot drop? Surrey Hills Rehab are running a free assessment day (Sarah’s Day) for people with neurological problems causing foot drop.
‘Sarah’s Day’ was born from a dear friend and neurophysio Sarah who sadly passed away in June 2018 from Sarcoma cancer.
Sarah suffered from foot drop following major spinal surgery and she became a big advocate of the TurboMed, a dynamic splint and alternative to traditional AFO’s that fit into the shoe.
In contrast to other orthotics, the TurboMed provided Sarah the movement control and confidence she needed to regain some quality of life and even enabled her return to work and complete a Race for Life.
Sarah knew there were lots of issues funding the TurboMed and struggled herself to get a device through the NHS, despite being under one of the most specialist NHS orthotics services in the country.
Following on from the success of the inaugural Sarah’s Day last year, we are holding this assessment day for free, in memory of Sarah, although donations are encouraged to Sarcoma UK. There is a limited amount of funding for a TurboMed for people in most need.
