“I realised that I needed to take matters into my own hands and build confidence in my own strength by exploring my capabilities..”

I haven’t been diagnosed clearly as to whether I have CMT type A or if it’s just nerve damage. However, I’m certain that I have drop foot and an unbalanced stance, despite none of the doctors who examined me providing me with a clear diagnosis. I had to figure out the name of my condition through Google (thanks to its inventor).

I was left traumatised by the number of doctors who told me not to come back for help, nor provided me with any advice on what my next steps should be. All I was told was to minimise the possibility of falling by doing nothing: avoiding long walks, not working out, and not seeking the guidance of trainers who were not confident enough to train me. But then I realised that I needed to take matters into my own hands and build confidence in my own strength by exploring my capabilities.
